CHICAGO, IL] November 4, 2024 \u2014 7x Stellar Award-winner and 2x Grammy-nominated Billboard-topping Chicago-native artist, VaShawn Mitchell, will be hosting a star-studded birthday celebration concert celebrating 25 years in the music industry! This \u201c25 Years of Music\u201d celebration will take place on Saturday, November 16 at Greenwood Oasis starting at 6pm.<\/strong> Special performances of the night include the viral sensation Lisa Page Brooks<\/strong> (\u201cYeah yeah yeah yeah\u201d), Beverly Crawford<\/strong> (\u201cHe\u2019s Done Enough\u201d), Tasha Page Lockhart<\/strong> (BET Sunday Best Season 6 Winner \/ WEtv\u2019s Grown and Gospel), Meachum Clarke, Randy Weston<\/strong> (\u201cFor My Good\u201d),\u00a0 famed R&B crooner Dave Hollister<\/strong> (\u201cOne Woman Man\u201d), and 3x Grammy Award-winning icon, Donnie McClurkin<\/strong> (\u201cStand\u201d\/\u201cWe Fall Down\u201d).\u00a0 There will also be an exciting reunion of two choirs that have played an integral role to his career: Bishop Larry Trotter and Sweet Holy Spirit Choir and New Image Chorale.<\/strong> Aside from Mitchell\u2019s own award-winning catalog including\u00a0\u201cNobody Greater\u201d<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cTurning Around for Me\u201d,<\/strong> and\u00a0\u201cJoy\u201d,<\/strong> this night is sure to be a night filled with great memories and music.<\/p>\n

When asked about this milestone, he says, \u201cWow, 25 years? It\u2019s amazing how time flies and I\u2019m truly grateful for the longevity that God has given me to impact churches around the world. Anyone who knows me knows that I write music for churches.\u00a0 It\u2019s always been my goal to create music that church choirs and praise teams can incorporate in their regular worship experiences, and it is truly a blessing to see the lives that have been touched both here in the states and abroad.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He continues, \u201cSince this moment is so important to me, I felt it was important to celebrate this moment where it all began \u2014 here in Chicago. Chicago is where I got my start and it\u2019s Chicago that I want to commemorate this moment with.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2011 Mitchell had his first breakout single, \u201cNobody Greater\u201d that put him on the map in both gospel and mainstream audiences as a solo artist. The song spent 9 weeks at #1 on Billboard charts and Billboard later named him the \u201c#1 Gospel Artist of the Year\u201d and named \u201cNobody Greater\u201d as the most played song of the year. He was also nominated for two Grammys that year for \u201cContemporary R&B Gospel Album\u201d and \u201cGospel\/Contemporary Christian Music Performance\u201d. He\u2019s continued to soar in his career by amassing three more Billboard #1 singles including, \u201cJoy\u201d (2017), \u201cLifted Up\u201d (2021), and \u201cSee the Goodness\u201d featuring Donnie McClurkin (2024).<\/p>\n

Aside from his own expansive catalog of music, Mitchell has also been one of the industry\u2019s heaviest contributors to writing and\/or producing some of the industry\u2019s most iconic hits.<\/p>\n
