About VaShawn
Hailed as gospel music’s connector, VaShawn Mitchell has spent a career writing and producing for established and emerging artists while charting his own path as an exceptional talent. Combining impassioned lyrics and stellar musicianship, Mitchell has cultivated a sound that is life-affirming, inspiring, and powerful.
Mitchell was born in Harvey, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, the birthplace of gospel music. In 2010, Mitchell’s single “Nobody Greater” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s gospel charts. More hits followed, including “Joy,” “God My God” and “Turning Around for Me.” The multiple Grammy, Dove, and Stellar Award winner says, “I was looking back 20 years and thinking about my start in music and what I’ve accomplished. I realize there are specific elements in life and elements of God that allowed me to get to where I am.”
